Smooth, rich, and warm, yet incredibly versatile.
As my friend's grandmother once said, "if I didn't know you were in the backseat, I would have thought we were listening to talk radio". I possess a smooth, deep voice that's well suited for radio broadcast, especially more "laid back" programs. That being said, I can stretch my voice into many different styles and tones, including hi-pitched squeaks and raspy grunts, to name a couple. I tend to breathe a bit of my optimistic personality and liveliness into my voiceover work, especially for inspirational narratives and speeches, but I also know when to dial it down when necessary.

My Voice Experience
Up until this point my voiceover experience has primarily dealt with the recording and vocal directing aspect of voiceover work. However because my co-workers describe my voice as the most engaging and listenable out of the bunch (in addition to my wide array of diverse vocal styles), I've always been the "go to guy" for getting in front of the mic for demo testing and mic comparisons. I decided to take their complements and run with them, constructing a specialized voiceover recording setup in my home studio in order to hone my vocal deliveries, characterizations, and pronunciation.
Graduating from UNC Chapel Hill with a Major in Media Production and a minor in Music, I left the university with a proficient understanding of recording both vocals (singing and spoken word) and instruments. More importantly, due to the fact that I would later be editing the recorded tracks into short and cogent final pieces, I learned how to direct my performers towards articulate and purposeful deliveries, and away from common mistakes that most editors have to work around in post (such as undesired inflections on certain words or phrases). I carry that directing experience over to my current voiceover work, where I serve as both the performer and the director.
After I graduated, I began working full time at the recording studio and pro audio sales company where I was interning as a student (I still hold a position there today as a pro audio sales associate). There I continued my audio studies and voiceover recording work at an even more accelerated rate, working alongside Grammy-nominated engineers and vocal coaches in order to learn straight from the professionals themselves. I was promoted to lead voiceover recording engineer where I was responsible for not only recording and later engineering the voiceover, but directing the performer in how to deliver the most engaging, articulate, and powerful performance possible.
My Studio Equipment
Currently my studio consists of an Apogee Symphony converter/interface system (with 8 additional preamps), Sebatron Axis dual-channel tube preamp, Focal Solo6 Be studio monitors, and an extensive microphone collection including (but not limited to) Neumann, Telefunken, Shure, CharterOak, and Peluso mics. I work on a 2011 iMac with the latest version of both Pro Tools and Logic, as well as the Waves Platinum plugin bundle.
In addition to my audio engineering experience, I am also a seasoned sound designer and composer. I've worked on handful of films, predominately student films, creating rich soundscapes and musical compliments to match any visual style, be it somber and dark or bright and optimistic.
