Voice Description

After a quarter century in the radio business, I can convey just about anything you would want. My vocal style has changed over the years, from that of an upbeat DJ, to an authoritative and straightforward news reader; I've hosted talk and sports programs, and am adaptable to any situation.

My musician/songwriting background has also been a stretch of my skills, and I consider that experience very instructive.

As an actor, I've done stage and film work, and am familiar with script structure.

Accents, Impersonations, Characters and Dialects

I don't have a specific accent, apart from what I once had growing up in New England. The "Yankee" dialect and accent can be done over the top, and its colloquial expressions are of the kind that can be understood when juxtaposed to those of the American South, for example.

My Voice Experience

I've done voice work throughout my radio career, and not just on air; I include production work in my background for commercials, promos, PSA's and public affairs programs. News reading and reporting is yet another sub-speciality.

My Training

I have a Bachelor of Science degree from Saint Joseph's College of Maine in Communications/Broadcasting, Class of 1987. In addition, I have a Diploma in Recording & Sound Technology from the Pennsylvania Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences, Gettysburg, Class of 2010.

All through my radio career, voice work has been a part of the craft, whether putting together commercials, or voicing news packages. It is for me an ongoing experience.

Musically, I've been a songwriter and singer in the band Ahltyrra, which ran from 2006-10; the group is now known as the Dharma Fools. I have helped produce and mix demos for my band, and others through PARAS.

My Studio Equipment

My studios are wherever I am working at the time; but I also have a Pro Tools 8 set-up on my MacBook Pro computer, plus numerous instruments and related gear. I can essentially set up a studio and record nearly anywhere.

Additional Skills

I am also a writer, and am currently represented by the Sullivan-Maxx Literary Agency. We are pursuing a publisher for the first of the "Sweet Dreams Series," an Young Adult series of stories, which are also being produced eventually in manga/graphic novel form.

My acting career includes independent film and stage, and many years with two casts of "The Rocky Horror Picture Show."
