My Voice Experience

Thanks for reading a little about me. I started my VO work at CNN, where I was an anchor/reporter/writer for CNN's news program for students. It wasn't a job for a stereotypically stodgy newsguy; it was a show for teenagers, so we wrote it differently, narrated and presented it differently, too. I was allowed to have a little more fun with it; provide more of a youthful energy than the 'regular news.' I was voicing news and feature reports for the show (called CNN Newsroom) five nights a week for nearly five years. I learned the nuance of pacing, inflection, and the importance of clear diction and pronunciation... I think it's a great foundation for voiceover work, and my news background ALWAYS helps me with any read, no matter how wacky or zany. I also learned how to be an excellent cold reader...

Since those days, I have hosted and narrated numerous programs for outlets like HGTV, TBS, and Fine Living -- shows ranging in tone and tenor from serious documentary, to enthusiastic high energy. I also voice a number of children's projects and very much like working in that arena.

I've also found a niche in corporate work, and by that I mean training videos, industrial in-house projects, things like that. I find that my clients like the friendly-but-authoritative quality that I am lucky enough to possess. If you're looking for that deep-pitched "VOICE OF GOD", I'm certainly not that guy... but I can perhaps satisfy many other of your voiceover needs. Thanks again for reading this! TF
