Voice Description

I have a smooth, low, inviting voice that is a natural for straight and/or serious voice over needs. That is not to say that I don't have a sense of humor. My Voice Experience

I thank my dad for my voice. He was a disc jockey in the 1960s before he became a manager and then owner. After a few years as a marketing executive in Atlanta, I started doing my own voice overs for certain projects. I then started a voice over production house in Atlanta, Audio Marketing Directions, that ran from 1997 until 2006.

Through my company, I have done voice overs for The Coca-Cola Company, Pepsico, Cingular Wireless, Starwood Hotels, Grady Hospital Systems (Atlanta), American Health Imaging, Shasta Beverages, Komatsu America, ADT Security, The Center for Disease Control, Con-Agra, The Atlanta Metro Chamber of Commerce, Georgia Power (The Southern Company)and countless small businesses, including those in the legal and financial services and single site retail businesses.

I have also voiced and produced many spots for commercial radio and psa spots for non-profits.

I have had the opportunity to work with some great advertising agencies as well including JWT and Fletcher-Martin (Atlanta).

My Training

I have a degree in Radio, Television, and Motion Pictures from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, but cut my teeth in a make-shift studio I built when I was in my teens in New York. Growing up around an announcer (dad) rubbed off on me.

When I worked in marketing in Atlanta, I started writing scripts for clients and voiced a few of them. I first used my voice for telephone on-hold messages for the company I worked for and soon after, requests came in from clients to do the same for them.

My careful attention to proper pronunciation and diction is due, in part, to having a Midwestern mother and a Southern father, while growing up in the Metro-New York area. I'm pretty much self taught, but my true "schooling" was brought about by having the opportunity to work with the aforementioned companies and advertising agencies. Early on, I learned a lot from Atlanta super-talent, Tom Clark.

My Studio Equipment

I run a pretty straight studio from my home. I record all of my voice overs on ProTools and master my productions in Bias Peak. I am also a professional musician, so I can create custom music for productions.

Lately, my main mic is a Shure SM-7A, that I finally took out of the wrapping after several years, and was pleasantly surprised with its more natural sounding compression. I like to keep it simple.

Additional Skills

I am a musician, and have some virtual (Reason) tools to play with as well as various acoustic and electric guitars and basses to play with. I also have a bank of keyboards (both digital and analog) to help me along the way. I have written and recorded music for The Coca-Cola Company and independent movies.
