My Voice Experience
I'm a 17-year veteran of the broadcasting industry, most recently working over five years in La Crosse, WI with what we secretly dubbed the 'big dumb radio show'. Our listeners came to expect occaisonal bursts of milk through their noses & missed exits due to fits of laughter.
I would enhance our show many times with my own audio 'take' on a news headline ie: What it really sounded like when Fidel Castro took a spill and broke his leg; What REALLY happened that day at Kitty Hawk with the Wright brothers. Also created my own parody spots, many times spoofing the medical ads that permeate our airwaves.
I've voiced hundreds of radio spots, some TV spots, on-hold messages, industrial narrations, and have also been a member of an improv group called Comedy Alley.
My Training
I attended Brown Institute in Minneapolis, graduating in 1990, where I learned the basics & developed my voice. I've worked on the air and produced commercials in Las Vegas, Seattle, La Crosse, WI and Mankato, MN.
Over the last five years, I've attended several radio broadcasting seminars where I've gained more insight into how emotional triggers and emotional responses lead to creating the perfect advertising message, and I'm acutely aware of this in the studio when I'm reading copy.
I'm also a musician, bass guitar with a Twin Cities-based tribute to the band, Heart. I was also a traffic and news reporter for a spell during my time in Seattle.
