Voice Description

My voice was once described by one of the Program Directors I worked with as "reaching out beyond the speakers and reaching around the listener... giving them a comforting hug." I rather enjoyed that and in my voice work, I try to extend that feeling with what I am conveying. I can do both more announcer-like or more narrative, depending on the needs of the project. I tend to think of myself as a comforting voice you would want to sit down and talk with... Sort of a Mike Rowe without so much bass.

Accents, Impersonations, Characters and Dialects

I can do many different characters, voices and dialects. Most of the time it's just trying to figure out a way to do it with a straight face. My favorites are Forrest Gump, Carl from Sling Blade and Gomer Pyle though I can also do Simon Cowell and a British cockney in spurts as well. Surfer Dude is one of my specialties doing a great Pauly Shore impersonation or Spicoli/ Bill and Ted (though somewhat dated these days...)

My Voice Experience

I have been on-the-air on radio since 1991. I have done various types of on-air shifts as well as voicing image liners, commercials and news. I have created and voiced spots for local businesses up to national brands including Sears and Nascar.

I started doing voice over work because I loved radio. I wanted to be a DJ playing the latest songs for the local folks to listen to... Unfortunately, big business came in and swallowed up the "regular" radio station gig by offering less personality for greater profit.

My voice was always requested by advertisers because of my delivery and voice quality, so I left radio but continued on doing voice over work for the production depts. I am really a lot of fun as a host, I can interview a subject very well and creatively... and most important, I can create excitement for any product...

I have also done some phone system work, with people employing me commenting on how people enjoy calling into their businesses because of the warm greeting they get when they call.

My Training

I have a B.S. in TV Production with a Minor in Radio Business from Emerson College in Boston, where I also took voice over training and dialect coaching as a part of my curriculum. I have taught vocal dialogue classes as well as voice over training classes. I am also a video producer/ director as well as a screenwriter, so I am great with working with other talent to help deliver their needs, because I know how passionate I am with wanting what I hear in my own head!

My Studio Equipment

I currently have my own studio with Logic Pro Studio for production with a M Audio Firewire 410 interface and an M Audio Condenser Microphone. I also have mobile recording rigs for on site audio production including Mac Laptop with Logic Pro Studio and M Audio Interface as well, which can record up to 2 microphones at the same time.
