Voice Description

My voice is very versatile and I can often reproduce accents, pitch and character qualities of voices after hearing them a few times. I have a very diverse retinue of voice styles, characterizations, accents and ages and can do both male and female voices. For example I use a deep, warm voice for narration, an upbeat, fun or soft, sexy voice for commercials and a smooth professional style for presentations. I have written some of my own material. I do a variety of cartoon characters such as Alvin the singing chipmunk, Natasha of the Bullwinkle cartoon show, Kermit the frog and Lily Tomlin’s ‘Edith Ann’. Some of the voice accents I have the most experience with are: Male or female German, Italian, French, Irish, Hispanic, British, English (including cockney), Russian, New York (Long Island, Brooklyn, etc.) and Southern states. I do child, teen, young adult, middle-aged and senior voiceovers. I sing a variety of music such as classical, jazz, blues, country western and rock. I love doing voiceovers, singing and anything involved with voice acting. I am looking forward to the continuing variety and challenges of this exciting work.

My Voice Experience

I have done character voices and singing most of my life. As a child, I sang at social functions in my hometown. As an adult I entertained at parties and social gatherings. I have sung lead vocalist in bands. I have acted in commercials and documentaries for local television. I’ve done public speaking and hosted a local talk show concerning alcohol and drug abuse in the community. I have always been involved with public speaking and entertaining even though I had a career in another field most of my life. Two years ago, in 2004 I did a vocal audition for a woman whose husband is a voice actor and an assistant producer in Los Angeles and she wanted me to audition for him. Unfortunately family concerns didn’t allow me to go to L.A. at that time, but I began exclusively focusing on developing my voice talent for professional voiceover work. I Began taking voice lessons with a very accomplished opera singer in Tucson and became involved in theatre where I have done voice characterizations and sung in several operas in both male and female roles. I auditioned for and was hired by a local talent Agency where I studied commercial and scene acting and basic media. I am absolutely excited and enthusiastic about doing voiceover work in all kinds of venues.

My Training

My voiceover work has been mostly in the theatre. I have acted and done voiceovers for a number of characters in operas and plays for Tucson Music Theatre. The people who manage the theatre are Dean and Anna Schoff,opera singers who performed here and in Europe and still sing and teach voice in Tucson. I have acted and done voice characterizations in several operas. I most recently performed in Barber of Seville. I was hired by Elizabeth Savage Talent Agency where I studied commercial and scene acting and basic media. I have done commercials for Levy’s department store in Tucson and acted in and co-produced a documentary for local television called Thorn Road. I hosted a radio talk show called AA of the Air dealing with topics relating to drug abuse in the community with guest speakers discussing topics relating to alcohol and substance abuse.

Additional Skills

As a child I spent a lot time reading,painting and writing stories. The imprinting of the fascinating characters I encountered in books and imagination during those years emerged later in my voice characterizations. In college I majored in art history and was an artist for several years so I deeply appreciate all modes of artistic expression. Cultivating the study and expression of characterization on canvas helped me to bring forth that same creative richness and color in the tones and variety of my voice characterizations. For many years I have had a holistic health practice, incorporating many healing modalities in private practice, and as a therapist at Mirasol, one of the top eating disorders clinic for women in the country. Through my work, I have had the joy of helping people to bring forth hidden or undeveloped gifts and talents within themselves. This work has made me appreciate the unlimited power, imagination and archetypal richness of the human psyche. I am excited about seeing this process manifesting in my own life professionally as a voiceover artist and singer.
