My Voice Experience

I started out as a disc jockey at a local radio station, doing the afternoon drive time show and numerous crazy traffic reports, like penguin sightings in Texas and rush hour aerobics. Later, I auditioned and got selected as a voice talent for "Sue Leutian", a sporty looking animated character in a software training video for IBM/Tivoli Systems. I became a regular voice talent for new software demos and in-house training videos for IBM (which I still do when called upon). I also edit and write the copy for the technical demos. I have volunteered many hours reading a variety of textbooks and novels for Recording for the Blind and Dyslexic and made many audio recordings for friends and families facing long road trips.

My Training

B.S. Geophysics, B.A. Mathematics, minor in Technical Writing from the University of Texas at Austin. Licensed personal fitness trainer and massage therapist. I attended a variety of voice classes and workshops while in school and afterwards. I trained in radio with professional DJs, mostly on the job. I try to soak up information anywhere I can find it regarding voice work.

My Studio Equipment

I have a professional microphone and sound blocking devices at my computer at home. I also have access to a professional voice recording booth.

Additional Skills

I think it is helpful to know the topic about which you will speak. To that end, I know a lot about computers and technical information, having worked in the software industry for 15 years. I currently work as a fitness trainer and play and coach several sports and martial arts, so I have quite a bit of athletic experience and knowledge. And I'm a massage therapist, so I do have a calm and cool side to me (and voice to match). If you are looking for a high pitched generic voice, I may not be the person you want. But if you want a lower female voice with a range of characteristics, I'm your gal!
