Tara Schott

Smokey, soft, dry, offbeat, character specialist

Voice Description

My voice has always been my natural gift - strangers have always told me this. Being trained under voice coach Chuck McKibben, I have experience delivering what is expected of me - from documentaries, to upbeat radio station commercials. Being a singer and actress has taught me to captivate listeners just by changing my pitch, or speed. My voice has been described as sexy, smooth, rich, very smokey, yet strikingly crystal clear. I'm very diverse, so I'm also able to sound like the young girl next door as well.

My Voice Experience

For as long as I can remember, I have been eagerly awaiting the completion of my education so I could finally be rewarded with the opportunity to work in broadcasting. As a pre-teen I would constantly “borrow” my father’s cassette tape recorder and video camera, creatively masterminding detailed improv skits for imaginary radio and television programs and commercials. To my excitement, college brought with it a wealth of bigger, more expensive equipment for me to utilize at almost any time I wanted. Now that I've graduated, I've begun producing, writing, and performing news segments for the Trenton Downtown Association. On my free days from that, I read PSA's and commercials for a local radio station from my own home.

My Training

Voice coaching from Chuck McKibben, Dean of the NY Voiceover Academy, and senior instructor with CSB and an advisor to the Katharine Gibbs School on Long Island.

I Recently received my BA in TV Reporting/Broadcasting from Rutgers University. There, my TV Reporting professor specifically pointed me out and urged me to work in TV, and voiceovers because of my great voice and camera charisma. I wrote and read the afternoon and ten o'clock news for WRSU Radio Station in New Brunswick, NJ. Worked as an dramatic actress, and singer for community and college theatre.

My Studio Equipment

I currently have the SnowBall - a USB mic that allows me to record right in my own home. I can edit the piece and deliver it to customers via MP3

Additional Skills

I'm incredibly easy to work with. I would be delighted to help in any way I can with my voice. Besides being a talented voice actor, I am also great on television. I went to school to be a TV Reporter, so I am able to write and read well for the camera.
