My Voice Experience

I am a beginner in the voice over field. After working for 15 years in a field I love, but that makes it hard to do much else than pay the bills, I decided I had to find a way to keep my job but be able to afford the lifestyle I enjoy living. Voice over was the obvious choice for me, as I have always loved to sing, and had the desire for many years to try acting and voice over. I have trained with a local voice over coach who has 20+ years of experience. I'm so excited to get some experience under my belt and grow in this field.

My Training

My voice over life is my 'second life'. I have trained with a local voice talent, Cammie Winston, who has worked in the field for 20+ years, and is a wonderful mentor. I have taken some related workshops, and also am part of a local voice over network of colleagues in our local area.

My first life is as a clinical research scientist at the MIND Institute, UC Davis, Sacramento. I work with children and adults, doing neuropsychological testing for research projects for people who have autism, fragile X syndrome, and other developmental disabilities.

I studied Biological Science at Colorado State University (B.S. 1995) and Child Development at the University of California, Davis (M.S., 2008)

My Studio Equipment

I have a home studio, and currently I am using a Blue 'Yeti' microphone, and I use Sound Forge 10.0 for my audio editing software.

The other skills I have relate to the business aspect of my work, which includes good time management, good communication skills, and organization.
