My Voice Experience
At my first large corporate job, answering phones in a call center environment, callers would respond to my introduction by saying, "MAN I thought you were still the recording!"
I wasn't sure that was a good thing, I mean, I didn't want to sound like the dreaded robot, so I talked to my boss, who thought that was hysterical. Over the next couple of years, I found that I really responded in voice changes to the caller or situation at hand. I tended to mimic their approach in an effort to best communicate to them and became "office famous" for the many voice faces I portrayed. When the time came to revamp our IVR, I was approached to do the various recordings. I loved it and have been picking up voice work on the side, here and there ever since.
My Training
I was a broadcast journalism major who switched over to print and never finished. I have no formal training, aside from a mother who would not allow anything but perfect diction and 12+ years working in industries where the voice presented to customers is the make or break factor. I always get tapped for community puppet shows and talent shows for charity because I can put on so many characters (and have a great time doing it).
My Studio Equipment
None, to date my clients have provided the studio or rented studio time.
