Accents, Impersonations, Characters and Dialects
Born Scottish, good with most British, European and American accents. Able to mimic from Billy Connolly to the Elephant man. Versatile, dynamic voice, will attempt any character.
My Voice Experience
I started voice over work in the mid 90's. I did almost all the voice characters for some Oxford University Press and Dorling Kindersley children's CD-ROM titles - 'The Fish Who Could Wish', 'Dragon Poems' and 'Winnie the Witch' I had my own studio then and I also co-composed and co-produced the soundtracks and sound effects for these.
I am also a singer and bass player, able to sing and play in most styles and mimic the likes of Sting, Bob Marley, David Bowie, Sam Cooke to mention a few.
My Training
1959 - Born, Scotland UK.
1976 - bass player, local clubs also working as electrician
1979 - Sound & lighting technician, variety theatre.
1982 - cabaret band, touring UK & Europe.
1985 - film extra, 'Highlander', 'Heavenly Pursuits'.
1986 - set up own studio/production company.
1988 - co-composed and produced soundtrack for animation 'Ra, the Path of the sun God' (Channel 4).
1989 - singing, bass playing, recording/producing artists at studio, performing as singer in duo and also various other bands.
1995 - voice overs and soundtrack for CD-ROM titles mentioned above.
1998 - ceased production company/studio - looking after my 2 children.
1998 cont'd - singing & playing bass locally.
2002 - freelance sound & lighting technician and musician
2008 - VOICE OVERS!
My Studio Equipment
Having had loads of experience both in a live situation and in the recording studio, I am familiar with lots of equipment and production techniques.
Only a few miles away, my friend has a small home studio with digital recording and editing facilities. A 2hour drive gets me to studios in Glasgow and a 1 hour flight from there to London.
I look forward to improving my own home set-up for recording and producing with the ability to access a world wide market.
Additional Skills
The voice over work I have done was an eye-opener for me. I still feel I have only touched the tip of the iceberg in this aspect of my talents. One time I was asked to perform one line in 32 different European accents, all in character.
Voice 123 is my first step to gaining more work in this field. I like to think of myself as being professional, creative, flexible, versatile, easy to talk to and negotiate with. I am fortunate in being of good health.......oh and throw in a sense of humour too - otherwise I wouldn't be doing this.
