Voice Description

I have a wide range of voice talents I regularly do: informative news anchor, radio voice type voices, and pleasant and professional. But, I think of myself as a voice actor, naturally I tend to do funny, quirky voices. I can go off on dramatic tangents based on some character I’ve created in my head. I can do a Scottish, and English accent as well as many others. But I try to put a twist on all voices. For example, I’ve do a voice with an English accent combined with what sounds like an extremely stuffy nose, or a Scottish accent completely out of breath. Most of the voices I try to do are comedic based. But, I love dramatic monologues and I can do passionate, high intensity voices as well. Trying to convince people that what I am saying is important is what I try to do most of all. I figure no matter what the voice or content if it captures people’s attentions and keeps them listening, then I know it's working.

My Voice Experience

I have a weekly morning radio show at a public radio station. In my show I am often talking on air where I announce songs, give background information on musicians and music etc, I tell jokes and I also read public service announcements.
Music is a big part of my life and I have recorded two parody Christmas hip-hop albums, along with a few other local musicians. This involved writing and recording catchy, satirical rap-type lyrics over instrumental music. Learning how to properly say a line, i.e. emphasize sounds, and articulate certain key words are what really made the lyrics stand out and in the end had a huge effect on the success of the album. I get a lot experience from doing voices in public and making people laugh and grabbing the attention from others around me.

My Training

I have graduated from a Bilingual High School, so I am fluent in French and English.

On air radio training has got me confident in speaking on air, hearing my own voice, as well as being a reliable source of information the general public.

Collaborating with musicians on specific projects that need voice quality have taught me how important and influential audible words can be when said in a specific way.

Additional Skills
