Voice Description

I have a standard, "non-accented" guy-next-door voice (I'm from Oregon). I sound like your dad. I love to do fun voices and love to do straight-voiced commercials a la Stan Freberg or Dick and Bert. I believe good writing is as important as the "voice."

I can do a "Southern" voice, a bad English accent, a Bad Santa, I've done elves and animals.

My Voice Experience

I've been a radio talent for nearly 30 years and, in that time, have written, produced and voiced radio and television commercials in smaller markets. I try to write spots that play to my voice, but also have an element of fun to them. Think of Dick and Bert's "Why Buy Radio" ads of the 70s and Stan Freberg of all eras. I like to use inflection as much as voice and "funny voices" weren't necessarily needed. I can sing a little, and have in some commercial, but usually in a funny way.

My Training

I'm a radio production graduate of an Oregon community college. I have done theatre in a number of cities in Oregon. I also have been a reporter for TV and a reporter and editor for a number of Oregon newspapers. I love to write spots.

My Studio Equipment

I have access to a studio. I have edited on FastEdit, we currently use CoolEdit. I am mainly a single-track editor ... I produce news stories with a number of sources, mixing on only one track.
