Voice Description
My narrative voices range from deep, soothing and informative... to clearly enunciated technical jargon for industrial and research applications.
For the commercial side, I present a clean, crisp delivery at just about any energy level. I'm the guy next door... or a lost soul... or the dude who's not quite "with it"... or the high-energy pitch man who's about to sell you a magical stain remover!

Accents, Impersonations, Characters and Dialects
American accents range from Oklahoma drawl, Southern drawl, Bronx, New Jersey, Minnesotan, Surfer dude, etc.
I've done a lot of English, Irish and German accents as well... ranging from the high-class citizen to the common folk.
My Ed Wynne and Cowardly Lion impersonations have delighted people for a long time. My "James Mason" has been on a friend's answering machine for years, and I do a pretty good Cliff Clavin if I do say so!
I do a classic, hyper "radio DJ" voice at all energy levels!
My Voice Experience
I have spoken to classrooms of students for more than 30 years. As a science teacher in several public high schools it was a real treat to use several of my many vocal styles to interject excitement and humor in the classroom setting.
On many occasions students suggested that I "should be on the radio."
I have been a guitar player and singer in popular rock 'n' roll bands since the 70's. I have performed on mic for hundreds of gigs and recorded two CD's of songs with one of the bands. If you'd like me to include some guitar or piano work for an audition, just ask!
My Training
I was involved in a very informative workshop years ago with Samantha Paris in San Francisco which reinforced the notion that I can indeed do interesting character voices.
I enjoyed Elaine Clark's "There's Money Where Your Mouth Is" and Michael Knott's information (1-800-the-voice) helped me see the potential of becoming a successful voice actor.
Lisa Foster at Such-A-Voice really got me started in the field. My first two demo pieces are a result of my Such-A-Voice experience.
Most of my "training" has been using my many voices for hyper-critical teen-age audiences as a wild and crazy biology teacher.
The many hours I spent performing in bands have made me very comfortable "behind the microphone."
My Studio Equipment
My home studio features a large diaphragm condenser microphone which I connect to my MacBook Pro laptop using a firewire interface.
I use computer applications for audio processing.
I can attach mp3 files to emails or reformat into wav or whatever audio file type is preferred.
Additional Skills
My vocal skills and background in science teaching make me very well suited for projects involving technical jargon.
I have entertained friends with my voices and accents for ... decades!
I'm sure that I have a voice that can be put to good use for many different projects.
I'm Steve Bailey.
