Sterling Travis

I am originally from Virginia, and would say that my natural accent and dialect would be considered a typical east-coast, mid-atlantic accent with some southern influence. Being originally from Virginia and spending a great deal of time in other southern states (North Carolina, and Mississippi) I have the ability to, quite naturally (or dramatically) emphasize a southern draw. I would not say that I have any impersonation abilities, but am able to characterize many male character traits ranging from a distinguished politician, to a college student, to a working class individual.

Vocal training is limited to collegiate public speaking seminars (originally double majored in Communication and Psychology), as well as personal voice training from a professional voice coach. My educational background is primarily focused in psychology and clinical mental health counseling. I received my Bachelors of Science from James Madison University in psychology in 2011, and received a Masters of Education from The University of Mississippi in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2013. I currently am completing my PhD in Counselor Education from the College of William and Mary (Projected completion May 2016). Imac, Shure Mic, M-Audio recording interface, Cubase/Garageband Being a counselor I have been trained to use my voice in a calming manner to provide clients with a soothing experience. My voice has served as a useful tool in my clinical practice.
