My Voice Experience
I can tell you about my first encouragement in college to pursue voice over work. I was working as an intern for the Fox station. I was working the teleprompter for the morning news and we had to communicate with the control room for instructions. After the broadast one of the technicians in the control room approached me about auditioning for a position as voice over talent for the station. For the next few weeks I came in early and recorded a demo for the position. It was the first time that anyone in television had encouraged to pursue a position outside of my internship role. Although I was not chosen for the position...once returning to school I continued to read the news for the college radio station and also deejayed a weekly classical music shift on the radio station.
My Training
I have a degree from Sam Houston State University (1992) in television and Film Production. During my time at the university I worked a number of semesters as newscaster and deejay for the radio station. Other coursework in my program required me to write, produce and perform my own voice overs.
