Voice Description

I was born in the North of England to RP speaking parents and grew up, chameleon-like, with the ability to alter my speech and accent whenever I chose.

I can reproduce a wide variety of English and Foreign accents(Yorkshire/Derbyshire/Midlands/Gloucester/Devon/London-general and South/Norfolk. French/Spanish/South African/American-general,Southern)

Public speaking and debating whilst studying Law before training as an actress added a sense of authority to my natural style.
Working in the City as a broker at a later date demanded a sharp yet humourous and persuasive style.
Narrations, documentaries and professional/corporate presentations are therefore a pleasure.
My own style is sexy, flirtatious, warm and deep which are ideal qualities in many commercials.

My children love it when I tell them stories because I give all the characters different voices that really bring the story to life!

My Voice Experience

I have recorded several 'elearning' tutorials as online study aids.
Upon qualification in 2004 I worked for Microsoft as their in-house TV channel presenter for a year.

I originally studied to be a lawyer and working in this field I presented technical data on a regular basis. I lived in Paris for 2 years and speak fluent French and english with a french accent.

I moved on to become a broker in the city of London where I was not only required to speak all day long on 2 telephones, but had to do so cheerfully, accurately and intelligently..or lose a lot of money! I was also exposed to a variety of very colourful South and East London accents, which I can reproduce.

My acting CV includes more than 15 stage roles currently. I am often cast in high status Shakespearean/classic roles, but last year departed from this with a Spanish sounding servant, a French Marquise, a Greek godess and a South London working girl. I also recorded an on hold message for use in one of these shows...'Hello, this is the Greek Secret Service..'...you had to be there!

I currently co-facilitate Vocal Presentation Workshops to various Corporate entities. I train people in the effective use of their voice and improve their presentation skills.
I also participate in regular corporate entertainment events such as murder mysteries.

My Training

I have a Post Graduate Diploma in Professional Acting from the Birmingham School of Acting.
The vocal training aspect of the course was very intense and included phonetic training, accents and in depth training for professional screaming!

I have also attended workshops with Cicely Berry at the RSC.
Having sung in choirs and independently all my life, I have a trained as well as a natural ability to find pitch, tone and correct breathing patterns.

Additional Skills

As a vicar's daughter ( not the proverbial one!! ), I grew up with a natural orator, someone who exemplified the power of the voice.
I have always loved radio, song, story-telling and teaching. My previous careers allowed my natural abilities to acquire gravitas in my voice.
As a Mum, most of the time I have to be completely loony!

I think I am a nice person to work with as I love what I do, can learn and perform very quickly, am very patient and make a lovely cup of tea!
