My Voice Experience
Most of my experience is in radio. I had my own 30 min and 2 hour radio talk and music programs for 91.5 WRPI, Troy for about 2-3 years. I did interviews with local musicians such as Erin Harkes/singer song writer and assorted individuals and groups in the community including the RPI's defensive line football team; health care providers to review national programs and legislations such as Timothy's law for Mental Health Care parity.
I was the "weather girl" for at time for another radio program at WRPI.
I worked for a time doing voice work for Sirius for a gay news themed radio show. I also provided copy for this in that I utilized internet storylines and would call for follow up interview and type up 30-60 second news spots and recorded via telephone.
My Training
I have a Master's Degree in Social Work due to my love of helping and working with people. In fact one of my interviews was with the Dean of the school to try to draw more students into the social work profession.
I haven't taken any classes in actual voice over work yet though I've observed and listened and learned a lot to PBS and the persons who do voice over there for varying nature programs.
I have done "descriptive voice" which is like a "live voiceover" for person's who are blind to describe events taking place, store objects and items while shopping, and during movies in theatres to aid them in being able to see the movie"
My Studio Equipment
I've got plans to buy including the Source Connect you mention. I'm a quick study and want to get into this work big time so I would be willing to purchase.
My knowledge of audio engineering is primarily from running the board as my own engineer during my radio shows.
Additional Skills
I have really good listening skills and communication skills and problemsolving skills.
I like to sell ideas and products that I really care about including environmental concerns and those issues that effect children and elderly.
In my own job, a big part of the job is to communicate via email, phone and in person to determine social problems, concerns, access services, interpret fiscal rules and regulations on a local and federal level.
I want experience so for a year I'm willing to do low budget and occassional no budget work if it net a reference.
