I use any opportunity to use and create a new voice or work on an accent. Talking on the phone, conversing with people or simply being off my medication. (LOL)
When my boyfriend's father passed away, the funeral director was an older Irish woman. When going over the cost and making arrangements for the services, she later left the room for an extended period. I went into a full monologue of her presentation and an exaggerated version of her Irish brogue. It calmed the highly tense atmosphere and made the family laugh, if only for just a few moments. It was respectful to the director as well as the deceased, yet humorous for the moment.
I have indirect industry experience and have entertained many family and friends with my impersonations and voices. Many agree that once I hear a voice, I can imitate it very well. I have sung in school musicals and choirs but do not focus my talents on my singing voice. My talent is in immitation, animal sounds and various ethnic dialects.
I have a cell phone, a iPod and a computer. That's about it. Also I enjoy playing with an application on my Droid X called Talking Tom. More fun with voices!
I do not have any issue doing work on material that may be considered off-color, controversial and even in questionable taste. (i.e. South Park type media)
Although I have not worked officially in the voice-over or entertainment industry, I do have the raw talent to do well with voices and bring life to a character or characters beyond the script and written word. I am versatile and flexible in the voices and animated creations that may be a simple idea from the start and mold it into a masterful sound.
