My Voice Experience

My voice-over 'career' started when my office purchased a new voice mail system, and I was asked to create the greeting message - you know, the one that starts with "Thank you for calling Company ABC. If you know the extension of the party you wish to speak with, enter it now. For a company directory, press the *STAR* key." The rest is history. Even today, when I answer my office phone live, callers sometimes think it's the recorded greeting and prepare to leave a voice message.
Over the past few years, I've been assigned to record the voice narration of a series of product tutorials for my current employer, an accounting solution provider. I'm provided with a script, and I simply record the .wav files utilizing Camtasia. I then save the files to a shared server or ftp site, and they are incorporated into the final project.

My Training

I have a Bachelors in Fine Arts (Theatre) from The University of Massachusetts, Amherst (1991). Course requirements included speech, diction and performance, so I'm very comfortable speaking in front of large crowds as well as recording in the sound booth.

My Studio Equipment

I utilize Camtasia Studio, so my current 'recording studio' is simply my laptop in my office. I do have both a Logitech desktop microphone and headset, which produce good quality audio files (ie, better than those created with the pc mic)

Additional Skills

I am a really nice person, and I'm fun to work with. I've worked in Marketing for an accounting solution company for nearly 15 years, so I'm fairly creative as well (since accounting software isn't really that sexy). Given the right script, I believe I could sell anything, although I think I'd also be really good at recording audio books. I have 2 children, which means I have lots of story-telling experience!
