My Voice Experience

Sharon has worked in the media/entertainment
industry all her life from age 5. As a child, she was involved in all forms of dance and musical entertainment, which led to membership in the Royal Winnipeg Ballet and from there, back to
university to study theatre.

From there, Sharon worked extensively with CBC television (Parade, Hey Taxi - pilot, Music Specials, Legend of the Silver Raven - pilot), CBC Radio (Numerous Radio Plays and Musicals), TV commercials (Cloverleaf, The Bay, Participaction, Alberta Telephone) both on an off screen, Films (That Cold Day in the Park byRobert Altman, Egg Story - National Film Board, Roman Meal Bread training film - Keith Cutler producer), and her favorite.... Radio Commercials and voice overs.

In addition, Sharon appeared with the Harrison Summer Theatre (The Owl and the Pussycat -
Doris), Vancouver Playhouse Theatre Company (Anything Goes - Virtue), Vancouver Art's Club-
(Barefoot in the Park - Corrie, What the Butler Saw - nasty girlfriend), Victoria Operatic Society (Brigodoon - Maggie Anderson) and The Charlottetown Festival (Anne of Green Gables-Gertie Pye).

Her voice work includes narrating of training and scientific films, Animation voices (The Sugar Fairy), and many voice acting roles ( Datsun, Old Spaghetti Factory, Bank of Hawaii - See my demos.)

In fact, her Bank of Hawaii spot won an award
for Griffiths-Gibson and Little Mountain Sound.

Sharon taught acting for TV & Radio for 7 years at the Ramona Beauchamp School. Her famous students are Fairuz Balk ( the new Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz, Charmed) and Jason Priestley (Beverly Hills 90210 - Brandon Walsh, Tombstone - Deputy Billy Breckinridge, Calendar Girl - Roy. Jason is Sharon's son. She trained him from the ground up.

One important aspect of Sharon's background is working in improvisational theatre for 3 years. "The Goodwill Store" was years ahead of it's time, and was headed up by Maysie Hoy,
now a well-known film editor in LA.
(Joy Luck Club, Smoke, Love Jones - editor).
This experience of performing night after night,
never knowing what would happen, gave Sharon the gift of playing full out, and she brings this to all her work.

My Training

As a true voice talent, Sharon was "discovered" by a sound tech while doing a TV Commercial for AGT - Alberta Telephone Company for Canwest Productions which was on Burrard Street near Beach Ave. in Vancouver. He started booking her for many of the voice jobs they were doing.

He would say "You always come up with exactly what the client wants. It's so easy working with you, that we just call you most of the time."

So after the lifetime of dancing, singing, acting and studying, Sharon became an "overnight success" in voice work. Isn't it always the way?

And from there it was just job to job, and the expertise that comes from experience.
