Voice Description

I am a classically trained vocalist who can also sing jazz, country, pop/hip-hop and folk, but opera and jazz are my specialties. My vocal training gives my voice a lyrical quality, there is a lilt to it that makes it pleasant and interesting. Time has lowered my tonal range from mezzo soprano to more of a contralto, although I have an extensive range. I have a slightly nasal production that I can deliberately tease out when necessary. It comes in handy, however, for character work. I am also a professionally trained actress and can learn nuances, always delivering in character. I have a very soothing, strong, clear narrative voice, and my diction is impeccable. My delivery is generally ranging over two octaves, with tonal variation and emphasis deliberately employed to impart emotion. However, some roles call for a more deadpan delivery with less variation, which I am happy to do when instructed. Yet note: even then I can deliver lines in a way that captures and holds the interest without distracting from the material. I can deliver ages ranging from twenties to elderly. I regularly do radio PSAs, theatre, and vocal performance.

Accents, Impersonations, Characters and Dialects

I can do archetypical voices that range from a nagging shrew to a Jewish mother, to a school teacher, an elderly woman, a crazy woman, a gossip, a seductress, a Marilyn Monroe type, a Martha Stewart imitation, a Rosie O'Donnell imitation, and a variety of sounds that incorporate animal sounds with the human voice. I can also do a variety of ethnic voices, including a militant (or meek) sounding Black woman or Latina, a "Cockney" leaning Brit, a Jamaican, and east coast/Bronx and southern drawl to southern lite, plus youth slang with or without ethnicity.

My Voice Experience

I am registered with a professional talent agent in Kansas City, Missouri. I have been given assignments ranging from the animation of traditional Halloween characters - a ghost, a witch, a pumpkin, a cat - for Hallmark Cards; to a Martha Stewart imitation; to a superhero; to a game player at a casino; to a crazed football fan; to a grocery store clerk; to a car salesperson; to a motorcycle granny.

I have also written and recorded jingles.

My Studio Equipment

I have a simple setup with a Eurorack UB802 mixer and a Schure mic. I generally make voice clips and submit them attached to an email, unless otherwise requested. For a signed contract, I will go in studio and have access to several in my area.
