Voice Description
I am a professional storyteller with a well-developed range of sound and clear, polished diction. In addition to my voice work as a storyteller, I trained with a retired broadway actor/director/professor to expand my range and continue to do the exercises to protect my voice and keep it at its best.
My voice has a warm, melodic, lyrical quality people like to hear and I often recieve comments on its musical tone. It can also deepen into a sexy Mae West sound if the script requires it, and in mid-stream move back to a normal, conversational tone or
then shift into the voice of an elderly woman as required, thus retaining interest in the words being spoken.

My Voice Experience
It all began with a love affair with the spoken word and also with music. As my voice developed and I began to tune it into a fine musical instrument, I began to seek opportunities to employ it. I played the voice of Fannie Summerlin in Inventing Florida for the Public Broadcasting organization; I did commercials for Andra Personette which are still running in Florida; I read for the blind in the WFSU studios and narrated the Hospice House informational video for Big Bend Hospice; narrated the Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe Braille Trail in Kingsport, TN and an educational audio for Diabetis Mellitus and more. It is my voice that interviews cancer patients in the educational communication modules produced by the ETSU School of Medicine and Storytelling grant.
In addition to storytelling, I am working on Florida Beyond the Sun, which is a spoken word CD accompanying the book of the same name.
My Training
Theater - Reader's Theater Troupe, Tallahassee, Florida
Chuck Olsen, Professor, retired broadway director and voice coach; Reg Furlough, Artistic Recording; communications/public speaking/persuasive communication - Florida State University; Masters in Storytelling from ETSU which included numerous avenues for improving vocal communication.

Additional Skills
I am known as a highly persuasive speaker with a voice one can trust. The ability to utilize appropriate pauses, inflection and diction all play part in this skill. As a writer, I have a carefully honed skill to spot good wording or if necessary, negotiate a script to make it more appealing and sensible - or non-sensical as the need may be . . .
My work with Big Bend Hospice which involved a good deal of vocal communication played a strong part in my development as a voice actor. Later, acting with the Reader's Theatre group also taught me how to relate to others even when body gestures gave few clues.
As a storyteller, my voice is crucial to what I do. I am a communicator and I use the voice to capture and enrapture my audience, drawing them into my circle of enchantment and holding them there until I am ready to let them go.
