My Voice Experience

I use the free download program audacity to create a cappella/orchestrated (via instrumental downloads) versions of all sorts of popular songs ranging from more classical pieces to oldies to songs from as recent as the mid-late 90s. I am skilled at laying voices to create rich harmonies and I am capable of creating simple rhythmic sounds to make my songs sound fuller and more complete. All recordings are done from my home and I've been doing this work since 2006.

My Training

I am a recent graduate of Muhlenberg college with a B.A. in Theatre. I have taken general acting classes, and higher level acting classes including Classical Shakespearian, and experimental acting classes focusing on the works of Charles Mee and Samuel Becket. In addition I have had voice and speech training and have a strong understanding of IPA (the International Phonetic Alphabet). These classes were all taught by Troy Dwyer who is a member of VASTA (Voice and Speech Trainers Association).
Also I took 7 years of classical voice lessons with Cora Gamelin-Osenback (soprano) in Pottsville, PA.
In addition I was a member of an improvisational group in college called 6-Meters, which focused on using the voice and the body to create art. It is currently directed by Susan Creitz (student of modern dancer Alwin Nikolais), who encourages daring use of the voice as both accompaniment and leading aspect of performance.

My Studio Equipment

I am currently using Audacity to create my projects. My computer has an internal microphone which captures sounds with almost crystal clear perfection. I also have an encoder to export the files I create into mp3 files.

Additional Skills

My theatre resume includes roles that have required various types of vocal perfomances. I was the bubbly teenage friend Ursula in Bye Bye Birdie; I played rough and tough cockney Nancy in a production of Oliver; I played the delicate Maria in West Side Story, and just recently I finished a production of Noel Coward's Blithe Spirit where I played the manipulative middle-class english ghost Elvira. I was also fortunate to play the role of gangster Big Jule in a production of Guys and Dolls, a character that is typically portrayed by a man.
