My Voice Experience
I have done community theater since I was eight, and I work as a reporter in my current profession, regularly calling up others for interviews. This also means sometimes manipulating the tone in my voice to ensure I get the information I want.
I have been recorded while doing performances at my college theater in Keyser, W.Va. from 2001-2003, and again later as a returning guest in 2007 to play Mary Sunshine in Chicago. I have done both theater and vocal performances.
My Training
I have performed in theater since I was eight years old. I also play piano, and learned for myself, how tone, pitch, even the part of the body the sound emanates from can affect the way a song or speech is heard by an audience. My vocal training is largely self-taught with the lessons I learned from musical directors and directors in community and college theater.
I am currently a journalist, and regularly, I call people from governors to senior citizens. I have learned that certain tones and way of expressing myself help to ensure that I sound like the type of person that the subject of the interview wants to speak to.
My Studio Equipment
No studio.
Additional Skills
I have a definite singing vocal range of a low G (below Middle C) to a high B flat (almost two octaves above Middle C) If asked to, I have stretched the range with some exercises and practice.
I have studied French and Spanish in school, and while I am not fluent in them, I can use words in either language with some skill.
I have had law classes through my education at West Virginia University, and have taken a year of both biology and chemistry during my college career.
