My Voice Experience
When I was a child, I wanted to be in show business. I would sit on the front porch and sing into a spoon, hoping someone would ride by and discover me. When I would read a book with dialogue, I would always read it aloud, and of course when I went to the library I would always try to find a book with plenty of dialogue.
My Training
I first learned about voiceovers in a one-night class at our local community college. Then I attended a Master Class through Voices For All from Albany, New York. There we received intense training in the art of voiceovers, and were also given studio time in order to implement what we had learned.
My Studio Equipment
My studio equipment consists of a laptop and ProTools software, an ASI microphone, and a Digidesign MBox2 with closed headphones. I have a library of music loops that can be added to a project.
Additional Skills
Early in my career as a librarian in the public library, I read aloud stories on the air for television. Through further experience as a public elementary school librarian, I often read aloud to students, keeping their attention by changing character voices. Currently I read newspaper articles on the air for the benefit of the visually impaired through the Down East Radio Reading Service.
