My Voice Experience
June 2011 to present:
Set up 3munkees.com a project led by volunteers to raise awareness of local charities. Been interviewed by various local radio stations.
July 2010 to March 2011:
Joined Reading4u - Internet based community radio for Reading. I had my own 2 hour chat show every week and read the news & promos, jingles & voiceovers.
History:
About 12 years ago in 1997 I was 20, I spoke to a DJ from a local radio station (Guy Harris at 2Ten FM)purely to request a song.....He said I had a great voice for radio, which at that time I took as a huge compliment!
I had always been confident on the phone, but put this down to being encouraged to speaking on the phone to various people when I was little!
I made a couple of live requests on various radio stations. That's when the seed was first planted - I did have an OK voice and I might be able to use it.
In 1998 I had a voice reel produced, which I am still proud of - having had no previous experience.
I left things for a few years, every opportunity seemed to involve paying for auditions up front - I just couldn't afford it!
In 2002, I featured on Sara Cox's morning show on BBC Radio One as a competition caller with one of my best friends and although this re-ignited my interest in voice work it took a further 5 years for me to take positive, definite steps towards my future career.
In all admin jobs that I've had since the age of 16 I have been asked to record corporate voice messages for their telephone systems.
September 2009 I decided to make a go of this - My boyfriend is a music producer and we have a studio in our home.
