My Voice Experience
I've been a voiceover talent for over 15 years. I've narrated documentary and educational films; corporate, medical, and technical training videos. My commercial voice can be heard in shorter productions like cable TV productions, in-store announcements, interactive sales robots; tv and radio ads; on hold messaging and sales; telephone greetings; museum tour info and many other productions where somebody needs to say something and it better be good. Clients include: Glaxo, Sara Lee Corp., Northern Telecom, Fujitsu, Berkeley College, Smith College, Whirlpool, Lucent Technologies, BMW Museum, American Cancer Society, SAS Institute, Sinclair Institute, Neonatal Nurses Association (NAACOG)
My Training
I graduated from the University of Noth Carolina at Chapel Hill with a BA in Radio, TV and Motion Pictures. I worked for several years as a corporate audio/video producer in Munich, Germany. Our two-person department had a production studio and no budget for talent. I discovered my voice by necessity and enjoyed developing the new skill. I began recording everything from voiceovers for radio and tv commercials to PSA's to voice acting for dubbing foreign films into English (all of which I still do today!). On returning to the US, my natural career path led me to radio and I spent two years in the production department. I think this emphasis on production helps my timing and delivery. Since then I've been an independent voice for hire. I have a talent for making technical and medical jargon intelligible to the listener. And for making my voice believable and trustworthy in commercials.
