Voice Description

I’m an Aussie (Australian) who’s lived in the US for 12 years and so have no problem losing the accent. Though most of my voice work as been WITH THIS ACCENT…easy to listen to Trans Atlantic…..not your Ocker Aussie nor your upper class Brit, and not quite American but somewhere in between ALL of the above….the accent that no-one can really place but loves to hear!

At the prestigious National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) in Australia where I had the fortune to undergo three years full time training in all aspects of performance:acting, voice and movement, the focus was on authenticity combined with variety and flexibility….. so I can be whatever you’re looking for; from strong, warm and sincere to light, funny and sexy to smooth, calming and relaxing. I can be mature and authoritative or innocent and joyful. I bring scripts to life with real believable and lovable characters that speak to the heart of the listener.

Accents have never been a problem as I have sung all my life and a musical ear makes them a piece of cake. They include: Australian (all versions -strong to light), New Zealand, South African ,Standard American, Southern, New York, English(upper to cockney), Scottish, Irish, Indian, Russian, Generic European.

My ease of delivery has enabled me to voice many radio commercials and appear as on -camera talent in over 100 commercials and infomercials in my more than 35 years in the business.

As child I always animated my toys with voices as they played, fought and loved each other. Good training and perhaps the seed of my present passion for voiceover for animation which still brings as much joy as it did then….if not more so!

With 4 one-woman shows under my belt as an actress……... storytelling/narration gives me great pleasure.

My life as a Yogi and meditator of 25 years also brings a unique grounded quality to my work and I have done several meditation commentaries over the years.

A recent Promo for CBS’s The Bold and the Beautiful was dubbed ‘charming and sexy’ by the producer.

My Training

I have received extensive training as an actor. The National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) in Australia is a 3 year, full time course where I worked on all aspects of performance; dance, mime and movement, many genres and styles of acting (with many of the top directors in the country at the time) and daily voice classes that included accents from all over the world, articulation, projection, breath-work and techniques for stage tv/film and radio. A comprehensive foundation to a subsequent 35+ year career in the industry.

Singing with the phenomenal Per Bristow who knows how to FREE the authentic voice better than anyone I’ve found so far out there.

As an acting coach, voice work is a key ingredient to my training of young acting talent and I have to be able to ‘walk the talk’…so to speak.

Over 35 years working my voice as an actor across all mediums has provided lots of training ‘on the job’ as well!
