My Voice Experience

I tell everyone that I was an unfortunate prodigy that became sidetracked along the way. I was a History/Theater Major in college, kidnapped by gyspies and forced to work at menial jobs during the day, but escaped at night to work in the theaters of Boston.

I escaped the gypsies and fled to Berkeley, where I worked repertory theater and doused myself in the petrol of Shakespeare, Ionesco, Miller, Williams, Mamet, Shaw, Becket, and Brecht. I lit the match with a sideorder of Voltaire, and Moliere.

But that was not enough, I caught the fever, wanting more, I directed "A Merhant of Venice," "Heartbreak House," "Waiting for Godot," and "Duck Variations." I wanted to understand the view and production of what is called the "Big Picture." I felt the trembling power of holding the puppet strings and having my vision blossom on the stage.

I became a carpenter, and then a computer maven, a gun-for-hire consultant working for Bosch & Lomb, Visa, Bank of America, and CitiCorp, writing data-based analysis software, and then fell into the sublime lower-depths of poetry.

I feasted on Dylan Thomas, e.e. cummings, Plath, Lowell, Ginsberg, Blake, Frost, Bunting, Pound, Creeley, Dickinson, and Roethke. I wandered the bistros, book stores, and cafes, attending readings, listening, and launching my own brand fire from a new pulpit.

Eventually, I returned to the place of my beginnings. "Experience," is a relative word which should not be categorically assigned or limited to a narrow view.

I am new to this venue, but one must start somewhere, and this start is by no means void of experience.

My Training

I studied voice for ten years with the lovely, talented, and experienced Soprano, Janice Spampinato.

I am a student of Linklater, "Freeing the Natural Voice," and "Freeing Shakespeare's Voice."
