Accents, Impersonations, Characters and Dialects

My natural accent is middle-of-the-road Canadian, similar to newscasters like Peter Jennings, Alex Trebek and other Canadians working in the American media. Born on the east coast of Canada and currently living on the West Coast, has allowed me to pick up some of those accents, but they do not come out in my regular speech.

My Voice Experience

This is my first foray into voiceover as a profession. However, I have spent two decades doing training, professional speaking and presentations, including numerous media interviews. I am a consummate storyteller and my audiences always ask if I do voiceover work and suggest that if not, I should be. In many instances they tell me that my voice reminds them of Barry White, Isaac Hayes or James Earl Jones.

My Training

I have taken voiceover training from Cathy Weseluck and Marcy Goldberg in Vancouver BC Canada. For several years I was a member of Toastmasters International and The Professional Speakers Association. I have also held membership in the Vancouver Storytellers Association. For the past 20 years I have worked as a speaker, trainer and facilitator in numerous scenarios. My writing credentials include articles in several print productions and I published a community newspaper for 10 years.

My Studio Equipment

My personal studio is PC-based with numerous mixers (Eurotrack for example), microphones (Shure etc.) and audio recording software. My nephew also has a professional recording studio in my neighborhood, with all of the current broadcast level equipment.

Additional Skills

After two decades of utilizing my voice on the road, I'm looking forward to producing voiceover work from my home studio and/or in the local area. For several years I did presentations to over 40,000 high school students, along with my corporate work which gave me a great insight in how to deliver content to different audiences.
