My Voice Experience

I have been a professional IT consultant working predominantly in a corporate environment for the past 30 years.

Just over a year ago, I started up my own recording studio called Face Studios (www.face-studios.com) where for the most part I record bands and solo artists. I have also however started recording various voice overs artists for ad agencies and have recently found that clients have taken a liking to my voice as well and as such I am now providing voice over services to various ad agencies myself. This effectively means that I can record the voice in my studio and provide the voice as well.

Being very new in this industry I have so far only done a few professional voice overs myself in the last month. These have been for ad agencies whose clients are major multi-national corporations with high profile brands. Since the studios opening I have recorded many different voice over artists for many different projects.

I am a semi professional musician as well and compose music on a regular basis. My main instrument is guitar. I can sing as well although this is not my forte.

So far the type of voice overs I have done have been for corporate conference videos where I have narrated company mission, results, and general strategic plans for the organisation. The brief was to be as motivational and exciting as possible whilst maintaining a warm and smooth voice that would encourage the listeners to get excited about being part of the team.

Other voice over included product statistics that would encourage the youth to associate themselves with a famous washing powder brand.

Also involved in a corporate conference where the voice over needed to convey a mystical mysterious atmosphere taking on the timbre of a Professor Dumbledore from Harry Potter fame.

My Training

I have learned about voice over firstly by being a part of the corporations that would commission them such as Unilever, SAP, etc. followed by recording many different voice overs for various ad agencies and lastly in being asked to start doing voice overs myself due to the mature warmth my voice has when recorded. No formal training in voice over work specifically, however I have attended numerous corporate type courses over the years to do with professional communicatiojns, written and verbal as well as corporate presentation skills which is something I excelled at whilst I was employed by these companies.
