I began in radio & production in 1965. Throughout my career, I've done virtually every kind of commercial and copywriting was often part of it.
I grew up an only child and if it had been possible, I think I would have crawled INTO a TV or movie screen. I found I was able to mimic lots of different voices and missed by 'that much' getting to work with Mel Blanc at one time, but sadly he closed his school in Beverly Hills. I also became a big fan of Stan Freberg, and I still am.
I worked on my home town station, later in Armed Forces Radio in The Philippines and Thailand, later in Atlanta, where I taught radio for a time. Later to KKMG, Magic-FM in Colorado Springs and onto KO93 in Modesto, California. Most recently I was working for Cumulus Broadcasting here in Stockton, Ca. before becoming a victim of downsizing.
Through it all, I have always and still love doing commercials, narration, production...all of it.
I grew up in Mt. Airy, North Carolina, attending and graduating Mt. Airy High.
After that, it was to Atlanta and the simply named 'Atlanta School of Radio', just before my military service. Then it was The U.S. Air Force and also the Defense Information School for Armed Forces Radio & Television. I was, actually on the air and doing commercials and production ever since I started in 1965 at one place or another, so I've never really stopped. I was usually doing on-air, copywriting and production together at all the stations where i worked, and that continued until being laid-off at my current station here in Stockton, Ca. Such is the business of radio these days.
I have my own home studio, with an Shure Electro-Voice RE-20 MIc and I produce using Audio Architecture software on my iMAC OSX. I can produce and deliver spots, with a full array of music and sound FX in an mp3 format by e-mail to anywhere in the world.
