Voice Description
My voice has been described as being "so right" and more specifically as having "that great announcer quality...not real deep but to the point where it is believable and real...a very honest and sincere tone." In addition I have been told "You could do anything from announcement type voice overs, to commercials. A very unique sound and easy to listen to." My voice seems to be especially appealing to women, even those to whom I may be speaking to for the first time. Many women have commented over the years that they "loved listening to my voice." While in college I even earned the name "Radio Bob" because friends said repeatedly, "You need to be in radio with that voice." Finally I gave in and decided, "Let's give the people what they want."

My Voice Experience
Quite frankly, I was born with a microphone in my hand---at least it seems that way looking back on it. From an early age I was fascinated by tape recorders and addicted to making funny parodies, silly commercials, and odd voices on my father's cassette recorder. But my normal, natural, everyday voice is what seems to attract people's attention again and again. People seem to find it smooth and soothing and authoritative. My first official radio voice-over spot was one simple sentence for a local Kroger store: "Fresh whole pork butt, 99-cents a pound, this week at Kroger." It made me laugh for days and I was hooked. Today I am at home behind a microphone, and I can generally "nail it" in a minimal number of takes. I think you will agree, hopefully, again and again.
My Training
My foremost source of training is my ear. Sound funny? Perhaps... I have taken voice over classes, recorded commercial spots, set-up voice-mail systems, and even worked as a police dispatcher over the years, but listening intently is one of the most important training tools there is. I listen to radio and TV and movie trailers and phone announcements with the intention of determining what makes that voice over work better or worse than others out there. Whether I'm listening to Donald Sutherland, Don LaFontaine, George Clooney, or so many others doing fantastic voice-over work, I always seem to learn something that I can use in making my voiceover work better. Perhaps I owe it to my parents who taught me, "Always listen before you speak and speak only when you have something to say." What do you have to say? Put me to the test for you. You won't be disappointed.
My Studio Equipment
Presently researching home studio equipment. I have access to several local professional studios for the time-being.
Additional Skills
While I genuinely and passionately enjoy the words formed with my voice, I am also equally passionate about the written word. I love to write. I guess you could say I have a love of words, both spoken and written. Did I mention that I also used to write many of those notorious vignettes found in The J. Peterman catalog? (Yes, the real J. Peterman, not the Seinfeld sitcom parody.) And rest assured, you'll rarely work with a nicer guy. Like any true professional, I deliver what the client needs. After all, there is a reason it's called a "profession."
