My Voice Experience
I've been doing cartoon and character voices my whole life. When I was younger and way before that freaky morning when I woke up and discovered I was a baritone, I did a lot of Disney and other juvenile cartoon characters, you know how it goes, entertained the family and friends, and in those days, it was all for fun. It was a sad day when Mickey Mouse went away, but I discovered that my new rich sound led me a different direction. That's when the dialects started. I've worked as a Scottish Buckster at the Renaissance Festival. Sean Connery loves to call out the order at the Drive thru. I've done character voices for a puppet ministry at a church and given attitude and a voice in live performance for puppets and other programs. I have so many sounds, accents and celebrities, I can't even think of all of them right now. They come into my head and I work on them and off we go. I have Asperger's Syndrome and this has all been a big part of my learning to socialize and be with other people. At the encouragement of friends and many others in the VO industry, here I am! In 2010, I was invited to present my Senior Project to a large group of education and business professionals. Let's just put it this way, the voices in my head escaped and all 60 or 70 of us, pretty much took over the panel. I went from student being interviewed to being the emcee and Sean and Curly and Jerry were all there with me.
So, as an industry professional, I'm just getting started, but I've been out there turning heads, hosting events and making them laugh for a long time.
Hope we can work together one day soon!
I have private coaching sessions with Ms Kelly Lively of Words in Motion Performing Arts School.
I also attended and participated in drama, puppetry workshops through our church and was a member of the touring puppetry team for several years.
