Voice Description
Today... Today... Today... Seems like I get lots of screamer spots... "today only" shows up lots. My voice has wide range, from rough on the bottom to warm and grabbing in the middle. I lack that buttery smooth announcer sound, but specialize in grabbing attention for your product rather than my voice.
I can do sexy, and it is well received by the women. I enjoy doing a "southern gentleman" since that is what I am. I have a very natural and warm southern drawl, but can turn it off when not needed.
I can do character spots, and was one of two voices on a couple of TAB (Texas Association of Broadcasters) award winning commercials playing a cowboy character.
I can do soft sell (funeral homes!) commercials that gently pull the listener into the project. When I do commercials from the ground up, researching, writing, voicing, producing... they generally leave the listener staring at their radio.
I give a very good read, not emphasizing every "and" or "or" but using my voice to reflect and inflect the meaning of the script.
Telephone scripts are getting more and more popular, and my relaxed, professional and slightly southern manner is wonderful for your phones!
I have great cutting and ripping skills, following the trend of using "oldies" to set the tone and use a phrase to bring it together. I use Acid (the software!) and Vegas to make way cool mixes.
I know how to position my voice in a project where the project completes its purpose without drawing undue attention to the voice itself.
I can work in your studio and fit your dress code, or can work in my studio where there is no dress code.
I am a professional.

My Voice Experience
Started in radio in 1978. I have done news, commercials, DJ announcing in virtually all formats. I've appeared on image bits, promos, program openers, client commercials, newscasts, live election returns, sports broadcasting, remote broadcasts from customer locations, and live news breaks.
My first long format voice-over was for a 35mm slide presentation for a water purifier company in the early 80s, but I don't sound nearly old enough to have done that!
My Training
Your listener won't be able to tell if there is a sheepskin on my wall, and a degree won't make them buy your product. I am industry-trained*, and have kept current with voice trends through the decades. Listen to the demos.
* When I say "industry-trained" it means I have kept current, have read books, attended seminars and used audio programs to develop new skills.

Additional Skills
I have my own studio, Acoustically "right" and tight and clean. I have real equipment, not a cheap mic plugged into a laptop.
I'm a writer, having written for newspaper, commercial copy, broadcast news and many other projects.
I have decades of audio editing skills, starting from cutting tape with razor blades to making the same cuts with a mouse. The mouse is much eaiser on the fingers.
I know sound. Live, recorded, and aired.
