I guess it all started when I would go to American Bandstand as a child with my mother and her sister. Being raised by someone the likes of Lucielle Ball (the look, the attitude, and of course, the craziness and wits), it was very easy to be entertaining from an early age after being exposed to the larger-than-life soundstages and all the goings on in front and behind the scenes. I have never been shy, and will never meet a stranger. My ability to converse with just about anyone and my easy-going ways puts others at ease. I have been in broadcasting for over twenty years, mostly behind the scenes: in television, studio recording, live concert sound, and broadcast operations. When someone needed a character voice, they would call on me. I have done mix tapes for haunted Halloweens, played Gary Owens (both likeness and vox) for a NASCAR promotion for the ABC affiliate in Norfolk, VA. I have also done 'business on hold' outgoing messaging; informative business tidbits with music under to keep folks interest while on hold. I do have a personal recording studio that I can add v/o's to music or foley, or read for professional presentations. I work under deadlines to meet the client's needs post-haste.
My degree is in Media Production/Mass Communications. In school, it was routine for me to teach parts of the class...mainly, because I like being in front of people, and sometime, with my experience in the real world, I knew as much as some of my professors. I have been an understudy for plays and theatre. Working in live sound reinforcement, I also had many opportunities to use my voice to introduce the many acts I worked with over the years.
My character is just that...a character. I enjoy life, and usually have a very positive attitude. It always shows in my voice. I have been known to sing daily and am not afraid to use that talent, also. I like to think that this keeps my voice clean and clear, and is just fun to do. I have also been told that I have a 'face for radio'...hey, I resemble that remark...HA! Raised on the whit of Shekky Green, Red Skelton, Bill Cosby, George Carlson, Redd Fox, Shelly Berman, and many more; I carry all of those characters around with me constantly...and sometimes, I just never know when one of them will come to life.
