As a young adult, I started developing my deep, mellow, and melodious voice when presenting readings and recitations. This was augmented by years of service as a radio announcer for my college's FM station. As a school teacher and military instructor, I had ample opportunity to continue to develop what some have described as a "sensational voice." I moonlighted as an adult radio announcer, performed live play-by-play descriptions of baseball games for area teams, and served as the voice of the narrator for a very successful software video game, "The Hunting Game."
Minor in public speaking and oral interpretation during my college years at Bowling Green State University (Ohio) 1963-1968. Radio announcer for WBGU-FM and later WMLW. While in the US military, invited by host country to do English-language news broadcasts via Radio Seoul, Republic of South Korea (1985). Years of classroom experience as a teacher for elementary, high school, and adult education classes. Public speaker in church and political settings. Student in periodic "refresher" classes in voice techniques and training.
Avid reader, published poet. Retired from first career in US military in 1993. Retired from second career as a teacher in 2005. Diagnosed with terminal metastatic cancer in 2001; overcame the prognosis with determination and dedication to regimen of radical surgery and chemotherapy. A "cancer survivor" of seven years, and now cancer-free, referred to by attending physicians as "The Miracle Man."
