Voice Description

Hi -
I am Karen, Welcome to the tutorial of Finger Snooker.

The origins of carrom are obscure at best. Some say it was the invention of the Maharajahs of India, while many in India believe it may have been introduced by the British. Some books on international games include Burma, Egypt and Ethiopia as possible sources, all of which leads us to conclude that, at this time, no-one knows where carrom originated.

Hi Again!....so all set to start the game! We will play a small Demo game here, with two players Player A & Player B.

As the game progresses, I will keep telling you about the game....like equipments used, rules of the game, fouls etc....You will also get to see some important Tips & Tricks at the Left Bar of the Screen.

There can be 2 to 4 players in the game.We have two players in this game.

This is Player A. This is Player B.

Equipments used in the game are Carrom Board, 9 White pieces & 9 Black pieces, Red Piece that is queen, 1 Acrylic Striker. Pieces can also be called as Carrom Men or beeds.

Setting up the game is really easy. Just Place all the 19 Carrom pieces within the circle in the middle of he Carrom Board as shown in the screen.

Object of this game is to be the first player to pocket your carrom pieces and the queen.

After setting up the game, we will now learn how to play the game. The First Player breaks the formation of the pieces by using his/her index finger. Player A flicks the striker in a forward direction at the centre formation of the Carrom Men. However shooting backwards is not allowed at any point of the game.

This is the index finger and this is the way he/she flicks the striker.

This is the striker.

Player A is now positioning the striker to pocket at least one piece.

The first player to pocket a carrom piece will carry on pocketting the same color for the duration of the game. If the player pots a carrom piece, he or she plays again, having replaced the carrom striker between his or her baseline. This continues until the player fails to pot one of his/her pieces, then it is the opponents turn.

Carrom pieces can only be struck directly if it is not touching the player's baseline or situated behind the baseline. If this is the case, the player must hit the carrom piece by rebounding the carrom striker off any side of the carrom board or any other carrom piece on the carrom board.

Now Player A is aiming to pocket the piece by hitting the striker at the side wall of the board.

Lets learn something about fouls, in this scenario, we'll learn about different types of fouls, that players usually come across like...The striker is pocketed, The striker or any other piece leaves the board, A player touches any piece in play, other than the striker, A player pockets an opponent's piece.

Here, you can clearly see, that the striker is not between the two lines marked on the board.Rather It should be placed exactly between the two lines marked on the Carrom board. The lines are also called baselines.
Now the Striker has got poted in the pocket. That is a clear foul.

I am sure you guys are enjoying the game and uptil now you must have learnt a lot about carom. Usually Queen is taken out in the last, however Queen can be pocketed at any point of time after the first piece has been pocketed but before the last carrom piece i.e. the queen cannot be pocketed without cover.

Now lets see the climax....

Player A aims the Queen at the top right pocket...
Queen has got potted. Now its time to pot its cover.

Now Player A aims the Cover of the Queenat the top left pocket...

Player A Wins...Congratulations
Player A
