My Voice Experience
In my job as a teacher and in my opportunities as a parent, I have had numerous experiences reading to various audiences. I have come to know I have a gift for creating listening experiences which engage and move audiences.I never thought of doing audi books professionally until my circumstances changed when I had to care for my adult mentally handicapped daughter and could no longer work as a teacher. Scanning the shelves of audio books one afternoon in the public library, it suddenly hit me that perhaps I could do this and work from home. The many opportunities in which I have transmitted a love of literature through my ability to interpret text convince me that I am right to pursue this!
My Training
Other than a college course in Oral interpretation many years ago, I have had no formal training for this. It is just intuitive. I have never done this professionally ; as i said, being a teacher, it was part of my job and one I discovered I loved and could do very very well.
My Studio Equipment
I have no studio equipment and I am not a technician. I do have a son and a friend of my son who know a great deal about audio and video production. My son's friend helped me put together my audio samples for this job search.
Additional Skills
I love great literature and believe many young people live in a great-writing-famine. I am especially fond of the classics. I do not want to read f-words and obscene profanity.
As a teacher, I developed the skill of knowing how to maintain interest in a story by making the characters come alive.
