My Voice Experience
I have at present many commercials on the air in Canada. I am the voice for Toyota trucks and for the aging super models trying to keep their look together for L'Oreal. I have been working for these two companies for 4 and 10 years respectively. Very straight material but I am also very funny and love to do quirky, offbeat stuff and I have great...timing! Fidelity Investments, Colgate, Rogers Telecommunications, Tim Horton's, Coors Light are also amongst the hundreds of companies I have done voice work for over the past 11 years. I've also done numerous documentaries and in-house production work from World's Greatest Sideshow Freaks for the Discovery channel, to promoting the Star Wars props exhibit all over Europe.
My Training
I trained as an actor at Ryerson University from 1984 through 1987 and went on to act in productions all over Canada and all over Europe. I have worked on the stage for over 20 years and also done numerous television shows, films and commercials. We had voiceover training at Ryerson and I also took a course through ACTRA works in 1996. A friend who worked for a jingle company approached me and said I would fare well in the voice over world and helped me put together a cassette (dating myself) that got me in the door and was instrumental in finding a good agent. I have been working non-stop ever since and voice over is my bread and butter. I am also and singer and guitar player and a performer of my own material that is very musical and very funny
My Studio Equipment
I have a MACbook and use Garage Band for mixing down to AIFF and MP3s. I use a Mojave MA-200 microphone with an MA-2 pre-amp run through an Echo Audiofire4 Processor.
On my desktop, I use both Nuendo and Cubase and have an AKG microphone as well as the other two. I also have access to higher quality mics if the need arises.
Additional Skills
I am theatre trained as well as Second City trained, so anything from classical to the ridiculous I am available for.
I also teach voice over in Toronto.
I am also a singer and guitar player and have a lounge singer loser character named Darryl Silver that I have been performing for 7 years.
As well, I play Frank Sinatra in a Rat Pack musical that has toured Canada, parts of the United States, Austria and Germany over the past 5 years.
