Voice Description

Smooth and professional for presentations, warm and deep for narration, the only character-type I can do is a "Gabby Hayes" type old man. Because the timbre of my voice is somewhat on the lower scale, perky-type hard sell is difficult. However I am able to present up-beat within the confines of my voice quality.

My Voice Experience

Since 1960, my entire broadcast career ran the gamut from copywriter to news reporter, news anchor, disc jockey, program director. I worked in Detroit, Phoenix, Los Angeles, Fresno and a few places in between.
I did extensive commercial voice-over work while in the Fresno market because of spending more time in that market. I was the exclusive voice of a jewelry store, bank, appliance dealer and the welcoming voice of the Fresno Air Terminal for a number of years. I also did commercial voice over work on an as needed basis for the cable tv company in Fresno.

My Training

Radio speech classes and oral interpretation classes in college. Plus see experience listed above.
I worked continuously in radio broadcasting from 1960 to 2008, most recently as news director at a small station in northwest Ohio.
I was also a newspaper editor for four years in the Air Force.
Currently I do occasional reporting for the local newspaper, The Bryan Times, Bryan, Ohio.

My Studio Equipment

I can record straight voice work through my iMac, or I can rent time at the studio of the Communications department of Bryan Municipal Utilities which includes video as well as audio facilities for their cable tv.
