Voice Description
I speak in my upper range, but have a resonant baritone and well developed falseto. I prefer spooky or whimsical voices, with an emphasis on the deeper tones (think Johnny Cash ) or on the higher, shriller end of the spectrum (the Sketsis from Jim Henson's "The Dark Crystal"). I like to imitate the sounds of nature and have fun at pet stores "talking" with the animals.

My Voice Experience
Mostly radio and cartoons. I worked at Cummulus Broadcasting for a year, and worked in the DJ and Production departments. I also wrote, produced, and voiced for several commercials for events at Rock Valley College in Rockford, Illinois.
When I was younger, I was introduced to the concept of voiceovers at the age of twelve when a friend of my parents asked me to read for the main character in a series of cartoons he was producing for a theme park called Shireland. After I made it through the audition, I was taken to a studio in Chicago and recorded. Before that, I had never thought to wonder who did the voices for cartoons. I've had an intrest in voices and mimicry ever since.
I was also active in theater and choir in high school...but who wasn't?
My Training
The closest thing to voice training that I've had would have to be three years of choir in high school. We learned tonal controls, techiques for breathing and pronounciation, the fundamentals of range extention, proper body posture for better projection, etc, etc. To be honest though, I'm predominatly self taught.

Additional Skills
As for the back-end of the voice talent business, I was an on-air personality, producer and editor for the local branch of the Cummulus Broadcasting Network. I learned what was commonly expected and accepted in the commercial talents market, and how to efficiently write, produce, edit, and air a professional level ad or PSA in the time frame allowed.
Also of note is the fact that I have worked as a board op in both radio and concert settings. I've setup and run the sound systems for groups such as Good Charolette, New Found Glory, and Pheonix TX.
