Voice Description

My voice is deep, sounds great on radio and telepohne and has been changed to fit a particular character when reading books to children during Christmas, something that I bewgan reading to only one child but looked up and had over a hundred kids listing to me! I love to do science fiction lines and some of the lines from movies that I've seen. Though I CAN do fun things I most would like documentaries. I read quite well so I don't get ahead of myself when voicing. I have a pretty fair voice range and when reading a book CAN voice the masculine characters distinctly. Am also flexible to training to enhance my voice range to meet the expectations of the people doing the paying AND I can write the material myself if need be. Duration is key so length of material is vital in total success of project.

Accents, Impersonations, Characters and Dialects

American accent, Southern, but not country, can do Old English, was the voice of Odin in a college play, Santa Claus in another one, performed the voice of "Christmas Past" in "A Christmas Carol", (an unoffical reading performed for kids at a large mall in Houston), can do Darth Vadar with ease, CAN do God's voice (so to speak from "The Ten Commandments"), virtually any elf voice, and my voice is EXCELLENT when reading during a thunder storm.

My Voice Experience

Ok, a paragaph:
While reading for the kids in a Houston mall I was doing fine just reading the material but when I said, Ho, Ho, Hoo! Merry Christmas!" it was said with such foce that kids from the mall stoped to see what was going on! I was so intent on reading without making a mistake that I didn't look up until it was time to go in for the show I was attending with my famiy to see dozens and dozens of kids gathered around me! It was fantastic because there were kids from African-American, Caucasion American, and Latino American listing to me and they were upset when I had to stop but that one reading lasted for nearly two hours. My voice has been recored on radio tapes from my security position with US Support and my supervisor once said he could listen at my voice all night because of the clearness of the tone and complimented me on tha during several meetings.

My Training

Graduate, 1978, Grambling State University, studied in the Theater of Fine Arts under Ms. Thomasina Stevenson under which I took two course of Public Speaking so I have no hesitance in espeaking in public in front of large gatherings and DEFINITELY have none speaking on a recordng. I've spoken at my church, to many students in a crowded dormitory meeting room and did the training sessions for the job I am presently on. I am not necxessarily new at this, I just haven't done it professionally as I'd like to.

My Studio Equipment

None, I'd do any recording at a studio here in Shreveport as I have found that home-type equipment sometimes doesn't give the listener the full qulaity of the range of the voice of the speaker.

Additional Skills

I write very well and only need to know what the project is. I can write the material of any project and do the voice over for it. My writing skills are excellent and I have written several stories that are presently pending for either publication or production. I particularly like material dealing with World War II as it was the most colorful event in the history of the United States and there is tons of material to yet be done on it.
