Accents, Impersonations, Characters and Dialects
I've voiced museum and PBS documentaries, and museum
exhibition voiceovers. My voice exudes credibility.
However, I also speak Texan, Arkansan (yes they are very different), and Wyomingite. (Yup) However, my natural speaking voice is unaffected by accent.
I do a mean Mae West, but can also be your unseen cartoon character.
I've entertained audiences with 19th century dime novel readings, as the voice of a drunken man.
I am a park ranger, and a former flight attendant, so I can easily reproduce the over zealous authoritarian.
And, I put my husband to sleep every night reading a book to him. He insists my voice is soothing.
My Voice Experience
My voicework and talent career began in 1976, when I was a radio and television news reporter and anchor in a small market. Less than ten years later, I was one of the first women sports anchor's in a top ten market.
As Dallas' KTVT sports anchor in 1987, I traveled with the Dallas Cowboys on their charter jet. My sportscasts were chosen by Fort Worth Star Telegram readers (in a newspaper survey) as one of the top three in a market with eleven television stations. (My sportscasts beat those of the CBS affiliate.)
While at KTVT, I hosted several telethons, including March of Dimes, and United Negro College Fund. I also volunteered to "Read for the Blind."
In Denver, and Colorado Springs, I anchored newscasts, for Fox and CBS affiliates, and voiced television public service ads. I also did on camera pitches for Denver's PBS station telethons.
I am Yellowstone National Park's only area television reporter, working for area NBC TV affiliates KULR and KCWY. Throughout my career, networks have bought my stories, but my Yellowstone area stories air nationally regularly. I filed a story with NBC about an ice climbing accident this week.
Since my husband is a zoologist, and museum director,
I've voiced over museum exhibitions and PBS documentaries that aired in large markets. I am passionate about the natural world, and my voice shows it.
I've recorded a music CD, in which I sing mountain music and my own compositions. I play the lap dulcimer.
My Training
I have a BA in Journalism and Business Administration from the University of Arkansas.
I've studied American Sign Language, and use it conversationally in my work as a park ranger.
Useful,perhaps, in television work.
I have more than thirty years experience producing television news stories for daily deadlines.
My Studio Equipment
RE 20 microphones, Joeneek pre amp compressor. Apple computer. Motu Interface.
I have my own Adobe Premiere 6.5 and Adobe Premiere CS4 editing systems, which I use daily.
Additional Skills
As a broadcasting professional with 34 years experience on air, I am extremely directable. I expect critical advice and feedback.
As a producer, who edits video and audio daily, I understand micro adjustments, and deadlines.
I am project oriented, have a strong work ethic,
like to have fun, and will do what it takes to produce a quality voice product for you.
