My Voice Experience
Throughout my childhood, it was always fun to be someone else for a time. Performing and imitating just came naturally to me. In time I found myself singing in front of the church, playing comic relief in school plays, and editing my high school's year end video. I remember being excused from class to help the AV Instructor do voicovers and voice mail greetings for the school. In college, I continued to act, edit video, and perform in voice over tasks on the campus TV station, WNYF Fredonia, and perfecting my "signature" voices: a sinister laugh that bubbles naturally and the stereotype infomercial announcer. "But that's not all," as they say. I spent several years reading out loud to my niece and nephew. Hearing them laugh when Harry Potter's "Dobby the House Elf" showed up, or hearing them gasp when Tolkein's "Gollum" muttered to himself made storytelling a great joy that I wish to share. I've also been told that I have a comforting, compassionate quality that leads others to trust and listen. I truely enjoy sharing and using my voice to entertain and comfort.
My Training
With no formal training, I have been guided in the development of my vocal talents by theater directors, children who know what their favorite character has to sound like, and the upperclass directors and producers at SUNY at Fredonia's WNYF Television studio during my studies there.
