Voice Description

I speak English and I have been a voice-over talent for over 25 years. My voice is rather deep and resonant,I have a variety of ranges from warmth,to excitement, college student to senior citizen. Harry Shearer comes to mind.I can mimic Jesse Ventura and other wrestler types, Jimmy Stewart, Fritz Wetherbee,Arnold Schwartzenegger, Denver Pyle, Walter Brennan and other vintage cowboy voices, Kennedy-type, Robert Stack. I have an excellent ear for dialects and can mirror most of them after the first few minutes.I can provide a PBS NPR quality voice as I have a background in public radio.I also can impersonate Northern New England's Fritz Wetherbee and have been complimented by him personally.Old time radio's Wally Ballou/Bob Elliott. Tough guys to Mr. Rogers but not stereotypes. The voice of the NFL-type from "the frozen tundra of Lambeau Field.."
I can convey the thoughts of cats, dogs, bears, mice, etc. I just finished a viral internet ad for Legal Seafood of Boston where I provided the voices for two clams..and was also the "Announcer" at the open of the spot.

My Voice Experience

Primarily I have been a radio announcer and have been called upon, in daily work,to be spaced-out surfers, grumpy executives, hen-pecked husbands, and pompous politicians. I was a voice actor member of the New Hampshire Radio Theater since its inception and performed the lead in Dracula (as a Romanian not Bela Lugosi),an old wino, an Irish cop, a Jimmy Stewart-type scientist,Dr Zarkov/Russian in Flash Gordon, Denver Pyle-type bartender. I've also been a Northern New England storyteller for a bank in Vermont..they wanted Fritz Wetherbee, mentioned above, but my fee was more reasonable so I did a very close approximation to his style. I also did a voice-over as an Elmer Fudd-type for an industrial video, and a James Earl Jones-type read for Tambrands and Compaq Computer training videos. I also did a voice-over for an informercial for all-natural nasal spray.
Recently I was the opening announcer and the voice of 2 clams for an internet viral ad for Legal Seafood of Boston

My Training

The bulk of my training comes from over 25 years of working in the radio industry as an announcer using the name Paul Belfay which is an easier extrapolation of my real last name.
I was a member of the New Hampshire Radio Theater (NHRT) since their inception until their recent demise and performed radio plays in front of theater audiences.

Additional Skills

I have always been fascinated by language and dialects. I'm an automotive history buff and a lover of folk music. I have performed in radio theater in front of a live audience while reading from the script, in the style of old-time radio and have loved the direct response when I get a charcater or accent spot-on. I have worked in telemarketing when the radio jobs didn't pay enough and I have a feel for what businesses are looking for when it comes to voice message work. I am a fan of quirky/absurd comedy that makes the listener think. I have been a master of ceremonies at a number of concerts..tuxedo a must..and worked as an m.c. for a series of non-profits fundraiser banquets. I can ad-lib with the best of them.
