I Love cartoons and creating unique characters...I mean LOVE them! It started in college while working as a pre-school teacher, creating distinct character voices for dolls and books. I loved how the kids would immerse themselves into this alternate world, forgetting that I was doing the talking! If another teacher tried, the kids would get upset and demand that "this doll doesn't talk like that!" Ah...the willing suspension of disbelief! From there, I changed my major to theater and was able to learn from some of the greatest actors, voice coaches, writers and directors that are out there! I have performed in many stage productions, too numerous to list, and have had the great opportunity to perform in commercial work ranging from voice overs for IVR's, radio and even a national spot for an HP commercial created by goodby silverstein & partners! I am an artist that enjoys working with other artists and you will find me to be professional and easy to work with!
While I studied theater for many years at Boise State University, I finished as a Psychology major at the University of Idaho. Due to my professional speaking voice and fantastic presentational skills, I quickly found myself excelling in corporate america but quickly learned that this is not where my heart lies. I had spent my formative years studying music and art and found myself longing to "play" again. After being repeatedly asked if I was on the radio and told that I should be, I decided to givr it a go. While my theater training gave me worlds of knowledge about stage presentation, voice coaching and writing scripts, I have to say that I have learned the most by working next to and for the great talents in this world! This is the part where I would really like to start name dropping, but I'll save that for another day...
I have easy access to studios, most of them used for music recording, with various mic's and soundboards. In my home, I find my computer to be very capable at audio capture and editing...depending on the needs of the project. I am not oppose to purchasing my own equipment, but have yet to require that. My greatest asset is my connection to the studio and production world - great friends always willing to help eachother out!
Training? I have been trained! Casting? I have been casted! The greatest thing about me though, is my life experience and knowing what it is like to be on both ends of the project! I will always be professional, reliable and dedicated, bringing with me a skill set that understands how what we present (tone, rythm, diction) heavily dictates what the mind will percieve. It is noteworthy that I have done one temp sag for goodby, silverstein and my understanding is that I can do only two more temps before I have to become union.
