Voice Description

I have a very calm, pleasant Edinburgh accent. I am also very good at standard English and old-fashioned BBC accent. I sound friendly and warm when I do telephone messaging recordings and am very precise and easy to understand for recordings aimed at people for whom English is not their first language. I am very good at reading diifficult text with an accurate, clean, professional touch.
My voice is flexible, relaxed and intimate for long readings, eg talking books.

My Voice Experience

From educational recordings to telephone system announcements via jingles and corporate films... eg. educational cd's for the Oxford University Press, when I had to sight read some French as if I was a scottish schoolgirl, which was quite appropiaite, as that was about as good as it ever got for me in French! For four years I regularly recorded for Morgan Stanley/Goldfish Bank - all of their internal and external messages, as well as various other clients, which I really enjoy despite knowing the torment it causes the poor customers when I tell them all the options from 1-5... I revel in getting it right on first take, it has never been difficult for me, and I enjoy making something that could be boring sound charming and interesting.

My Training

I am a professional actor, see my website for full details. I have been using my voice as a stage actor since about 1986 and am a trained classical singer.
I have also used my voice as a screen and tv actor and, of course, in recorded voice overs. I appeared on BBC radio twice last year being interviewed about my work as a voice artist.

My Studio Equipment

I have got an alesis microphone and audacity software on a domestic Dell PC. The quality is good enough for a demo and I use it to test things/practise. It is not studio standard. I could send a demo as an email attachment or burn a CD and post it, I also have access to studio facilities and engineers at various venues in London if you would like me to provide the finished product for you at studio standard.

Additional Skills

It will be useful to know that I am a skilled musician and singer and can sight-read music.

I am extremely good at editing text if required and enjoy doing so very much. If you wanted me to tidy up a script and make it more readable, I would be very quick and skilled at that. Though I can make sense of almost anything - after years of acting, I have got awfully good at making dodgy text sound wonderful!
